What we have here, is failure to communicate!
“Ten people who speak make more noise than ten thousand who are silent.”- Napolean Bonaparte
For those of you who don’t follow the National Football League (NFL), today is draft day. The 2023 NFL Draft will be the 88th annual meeting of NFL teams to select newly eligible players for the 2023 season. During the 2003 draft, the Minnesota Vikings had the 7th pick.
According to individuals from the Minnesota Vikings organization, they planned on trading the pick and moving back in the draft. The people in the Minnesota Vikings’ draft room thought they had completed the trade, but unbeknownst to them, the trade had not gone through within their 15-minute time allotment.
For whatever reason or reasons, the trade did not go through. The Vikings found this out while they were watching the draft on television. The communication methods were a bit different back in 2003. The Vikings did not get to draft the player they wanted at №7 in the draft, nor did they get to draft the player they wanted at №8.
They eventually drafted the player they had wanted at №9. Even though the Vikings initially missed their chance to draft in the first round, allowing the teams that were behind them to make selections before them, they still got the player they wanted.
There will be days when our well-being process doesn’t go as planned. There will be days when the stories we tell ourselves don’t line up with our thoughts, actions, and feelings. We can let ourselves get derailed by the process not working or we can adjust the process. We can let the stories we tell ourselves be deterrent or we can change the narrative.
When we adjust the process and remain flexible, then the process is working. When we use our stories to encourage us, we write a narrative that is helping us grow. Forward, always!
