Can a Ferrari run on regular gas?
“To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders.” - Lao Tzu
Can a Ferrari run on regular gas? Generally speaking, no.
Yes, the car will run, but why would you want to do that to the car. It will run, but not well, and using regular gas may cause damage to the car over the long haul.
We also have all probably heard the phrase, “you are, what you eat,” and “garbage in, garbage out.”
Generally speaking, whatever we consume for nutrition will determine how we perform. So if we put garbage in, expect to have garbage output.
If we fuel properly, we will perform at a level we are capable of. The nutrition we consume isn’t our only source of fuel and it isn’t our only input.
Today and every day, we are constantly bombarded with information. The information comes from everywhere.
Our phones give us access to information via email, text, Slack, Messenger, Instagram, TikTok, notifications, newsfeeds, and countless other ways. If we watch tv, listen to the radio, watch YouTube content, listen to podcasts, read books, or blogs, or watch or listen to the news, these are more inputs.
These inputs are fuel for how we think, act, and feel.
If we can manage our inputs in a way that helps us make progress with our process, and allows us to think, act, and feel in a manner consistent with the process, then we are avoiding garbage in, and garbage out.
If our inputs are garbage or regular unleaded, when we need premium, then we won’t make progress in the process, and our thinking, acting, and feeling will not align with our aspirations.
Be a conscious consumer of information, and be aware of your inputs.
Forward, always!
