Is the line too long for free bagels?
I recently listened to a story about two guys that were part of a running club in NYC.
The running club would hold races and the sponsors of the races would provide something at the end of the race for everyone that finished. In the story I listened to, the sponsor was giving away free bagels.
The two guys finished the race. Runner #1 looked over at the sponsor’s tent to see what they were giving away, and saw that it was free bagels. He told his buddy, Runner #2, “Hey look, free bagels!”
Runner #2 looked over at the sponsor’s tent and saw a line, he told Runner #1, “The line is too long!” Runner #1 and Runer #2 went back and forth with their respective positions, one seeing free bagels and one seeing a line that was too long.
Eventually, Runner #1 grabbed a free bagel and Runner #2 went on his way.
What is your everyday perspective? Do you see free bagels or do you see a line that is too long?
It’s important to be mindful of our perspective. If we keep telling ourselves that we see obstacles instead of seeing opportunities, we may miss out on free bagels.
